My mom passed before I got married, so I wanted a way to feel connected to her on the day without making the “dead mom of the bride” thing a wider focus of the ceremony (nothing wrong with it, it’s simply not my style).
I had a necklace with a pendant of her fingerprint that I never wore BUT, as if it was made for this day, it was the perfect solution for my conundrum. Whenever I needed a calming, grounding moment through the day, I gave the pendant a touch and off I went.
I actually don’t think 90% of people clocked the detail but it was one of my favourite parts of the whole wedding.
I’d recommend it to anyone who wants to incorporate someone they’ve lost into their wedding.
It doesn’t have to be a fingerprint pendant either! It could be a swatch of fabric, a tiny locket with a photo inside, their signature embroidered into the bouquet wrap — any memento that helps you feel connected to someone you love, dead or alive! 🥰
